This summer I pushed myself to step out of my comfort zone (see: jumping out of a plane) and simply live life to the fullest.

I tried new foods. Who knew I actually liked blue cheese, oysters, sashimi and bubble tea!? I hiked the Chief, and the Grouse Grind (3 times!). I took belly dancing lessons, attended a Zombie-Walk, went on a blind date, walked around the Vancouver sea wall for the first time, met the Sandwich Nazi, drove a jet-ski, sang karaoke enthusiastically (it was # 84 on my life list)… and yes, I went sky diving.

In 2010 I will…

1. Have a sucessful at home boudoir studio.

2. Be able to live comfortably off just my income from photography. (I serve at a greek restaurant 4 nights a week and I would like very much to stop smelling like souvlaki).

3. Take Salsa, Cha Cha, Hot Yoga and Pilates.

4. Travel to somewhere outside of Canada and the U.S at least once.

5. Do a boudoir session (infront of the camera… not behind).

6. Build better relationships with my friends and spend regular time with them.

I am so proud to say that since January I have booked a trip to Thailand, done a boudoir session for myself, taken some yoga classes (I swear I’d go more if there was more hours in a day), AND my relationships with my friends are really getting stronger.

So on the note of number 6….  This week, happiness is the amazing people I have in my life.

I have this quote framed, to the right of my computer as a reminder of how I want to live my life. I don’t remember where I found it, but it’s just really stuck with me. It’s my new goal to blog, once a week, something (big or small) that makes me happy.

Today I spent an hour of my day, Chai Latte in hand, browsing the aisles of Chapters. Looking for nothing in particular I wandered around guided by comforting ‘perfect-for-a-bookstore’ music. Flashy covers and funny names caught my attention. Some of my favourites: ‘Honey It’s All In The Shoes’, ‘How To Be A Hepburn In A Hilton World”, and a bright yellow book with just the words ‘CURIOUS?’ in big bold letters. I grabbed a copy of ‘The 100 best Volunteer Vacations” and sat cross-legged (yes, I was that person) on the floor reading about how to save the Mediterranean Monk Seal or grow organic vegetables in Italy.

This week I’ll keep it simple. To me, happiness is coffee at the bookstore on a rainy thursday.
